Wishing all my readers a very happy and prosperous new year. This is my first blog for this year and in this blog I will show how you can configure relative date/ time filters in Power BI report.
Did you ever had the requirement to configure the following filters based on date column.
- Last X days or Next X days
- Last X Months or Next X Months
- Last X Years or Next X Years
- Last X hours or Next X Hours
- Last X mins or Next X mins
- This day/ year/ month/ week.
If this is your requirement, you are on the right page. So let’s start exploring together.
For this requirement, I will use an excel datasource with the following data.
I want to configure the above filters based on the ‘Billing Start Date‘ column. The first thing is to use the Slicer control and drag the date field on the slicer control.
Your screen should resemble below. You can see the Start and End date range automatically populated from the data.
To change it to Relative date filter, navigate to Slicer settings in the Visualizations tab and then set the Style to ‘Relative Date‘. You will now be able to see the below filter options.
If you want relative time filter, set the Style to ‘Relative Time‘. You will be able to see the below filter options.
