Hi,
I was trying to follow the above process to pull the incidentid…but this is not working. It just gives the text value like Case Number: {!Case:incidentid;} . What is the mistake here.

I was on business trip and hence could not reply. Perhaps you have already resolved this.
From what you have sent i can see you have mentioned the entity name as Case. That is just the display name. you should put it {!incident:incidentid;} and that should work.
