Users not able to access model-driven app.

Hello everyone and welcome to my blog. I am back with another blog on Power App and today it’s about model-driven app and security role.

When you develop a model-driven app and publish it, users sometime report they are not able to access the model-driven app. In this blog I will discuss on the troubleshooting steps that you need to take for such scenarios.

This is the error that the user may encounter.

The first thing you need to check is if the user is assigned the correct security role. This is the primary reason for access issues with model-driven apps.

Model driven apps are shared with security roles. And you need to make sure that the user has a role the model-driven app is shared with.

For example, the Fundraiser app is shared with “Solution Checker” and “Environment Maker” role. For a user to access this model-driven app, the user must have either the Solution Checker or the Environment maker role.

Step 1 is taken care of. So you have added the necessary security role but still the user report they are not able to access model-driven app.

Now this one is rather complex. If a user has the security role assigned but still can’t access a model driven app, this implies that the security role does not have privilege to access the model-driven app.

Under the customizations tab, there is a special privilege to access a model-driven app. If your security role is missing the required privilege, we should go ahead and enable the privilege for the security role.

That should be it. Your users should now be able to edit a model-driven app.
