Power Automate and Power Apps Canvas apps are powerful on their own but they are even better together. If you have implemented a requirement using Power Apps Canvas apps, you must had that requirement where you need to call a Power Automate flow on click of a button or on an event of a controls inside Power Apps.

Well, the integration has been there for a very long time. The ubiquitous Action Menu from where we can insert our Power Automate flow.

But there are some problems that every maker face when hooking up a Power Automate flow from a Power Apps. Let’s see the common complaints

  • The existing formula on the control is overridden when we add the power automate flow through action tab. Check for the formula bar in the below video.
  • You need to remove add the flow every time you add or delete a parameter for the flow
  • To edit the flow, you have to navigate to flow.microsoft.com

Microsoft has finally released a preview feature which solves all the above challenges a maker faces. You now have the “Power Automate Pane”.

To enable this feature, you need to go to the App settings -> Upcoming features -> Enable Power Automate Pane.

In the above screenshot, you also have the Refresh button below Edit. If you have modified your flow from the flow editor and if there is any change in the input and output parameters, you do not need to remove and add the flow.

All you need is to click on Refresh and your app now has the latest flow changes.

And finally when you add a flow, it does not override your existing formula. What a great relief!

Hope this helped!
